One of only two wine regions to earn Spain’s highest wine designation of Denominació d’Origen Qualificada (DOQ), Priorat’s vineyards and olive orchards are often over a century old. This small, craggy corner of Catalonia is known for its dry climate, steep hillsides and famed “llicorella” soil, a combination of slate and quartz that forces vines to dig deep into the earth for nutrients. While these challenging conditions lead to incredibly low yields, they also give their primarily Grenache- and Carignan-based wines an unmistakable concentration and minerality that’s sought after by connoisseurs worldwide.

Carrer Baixa de la Font 12,
43737 Torroja del Priorat

We partner with Dominik Huber, the region’s most innovative winemaker and creator of the Terroir al Limit project and its neighboring Montsant offshoot, Terroir Sense Fronteres. Having recently received the coveted 100-point rating from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, Dominik’s extreme commitment to biodynamic growing and traditional winemaking methods guide our members to create the fresh, elegant Grenache- and Carignan-based wines that the region is famous for.

Beyond the vineyard, we’ll tour Priorat’s dramatic landscape in 4×4’s and enjoy a home-cooked lunch of locally sourced seafood, olives, cheeses and jamón ibérico at Dominik’s impossibly steep Les Manyes vineyard. Members will also travel with personal local guides to the breathtaking towns of Siurana and the Escaladei to learn about the fascinating history of the Carthusian monks who planted Priorat’s first vines and gave the region its name.
